"I want to follow Christ"
The Step of Salvation

Salvation through Christ is God's loving provision for humanity's sin problem. It is received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, whose atoning death and resurrection provide forgiveness, reconciliation, and the promise of eternal life for all who believe.

The Problem: We live in a fallen, broken world. We were born with the inheritance from Adam and Eve of sin. We add to this inheritance with thoughts, words, and actions that go against God's holy and righteous character. The cost of sin is death.

The Solution: Despite humanity's sin, God, in His immense love, did not abandon humanity. He initiated a plan for salvation. God sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to earth. Jesus is fully God and fully human (the Incarnation). This dual nature is crucial: as God, He is perfect and without sin; as human, He can represent humanity. Jesus lived a sinless life, fulfilling God's perfect law. He then willingly offered Himself as a sacrifice on the cross. This is often understood as "substitutionary atonement," meaning Jesus took the punishment for humanity's sins upon Himself, dying in our place. His death appeased God's wrath against sin, satisfying the demands of divine justice. Through His death, the barrier between God and humanity was broken down, making reconciliation possible.

How can we receive this reconciliation?

  • Acknowledging the truth of who Jesus is (God's Son) and what He did (died for sins, rose again).

  • Placing complete reliance and dependence on Jesus Christ alone for salvation, rather than on one's own merit.

  • Turning away from sin and a turning towards God, indicating a change of mind and heart. This is a natural outflow of genuine faith.

The Result: All past, present, and future sins are forgiven and we are declared righteous in God's sight. The broken relationship with God is restored, and we become children of God, with all the rights and privileges that entails. God gifts us the Holy Spirit, empowering us to live a new life, guiding us, and helping in the ongoing process of being made more like Christ. At the end of this process, and our lives here on Earth, we reach the ultimate promise of spending eternity in God's presence.

"I want to grow in my faith"
The Step of Discipleship

Christ tells us that once we accept Him as our Savior, He wants us to learn how to follow Him.  We do that by learning more about His life, building relationships with others trying to do that same, and putting into practice what the Bible teaches us about living for Him.

At Calvary Chapel, we offer numerous opportunities for this type of growth. We have Sunday School Classes, Wednesday Evening Groups, and many different ministries you can consider joining. Visit our Ministries page to learn more!

"I want to serve"
The Step of Service to Others

Ultimately as we learn to follow Jesus, we understand that His
calling is one of being a servant.  At Calvary Chapel, we strongly desire to be Jesus’ hands and feet in our local community, our country and our world. We have volunteers throughout our workweek, and throughout our services that you could be a part of, along with our ministries in need of volunteers.

We also have three service-specific ministries that you could volunteer with.

  • Celebrate Recovery - A weekly meeting of those wanting to overcome struggles in their lives. Volunteers can help make meals, provide childcare, or help with the service.
  • Neighbors in Need - A once-a-month food distribution program that provides those in need of assistance in Dallas County with supplemental food. Volunteers can help package the food sacks or help with the drive-through distribution process.
  • Missions - On occassion we have mission trips planned to help locally, nationally, and internationally. These teams often help with building projects and evangelizing projects.
